Cassé 1+2 is a silent 1-bit short that features two animated poems inspired by my love of internet memes.
The first animated poem, ‘#nosauce’, is about the allure of perceived online popularity and the reluctance to admit ignorance in a hyper-connected world.
The second animated poem, ‘le chat’, is about the absurdity and unpredictability of internet humour, especially online shock humour.
The title of the work references a 2005 French comedy film, Brice De Nice, and its catchphrase, “Cassé!” which was quite enjoyable to use in conversation. I, embarrassingly, used the term with great frequency the mid-2000s, often to the confusion of whomever I was speaking with.
